Happy Grandparent's Day

Yesterday we had dinner at our house in celebration of Grandparent's Day.  Mima, Papa, Grandaddy, Grandma and Grandpa were able to join us.  We missed you Granmommy and wish you could have been here, too!

I made grilled chicken topped with bacon, mushrooms and cheese; baked sweet potatoes; strawberry romaine salad and rolls.  Lillian drew some sweet cards at school for everyone.  Her teacher thought it was so funny when I told her she needed to make four cards - such lucky kids to have so many sets of grandparents to love!

Happy Birthday Papa!

Yesterday was Papa's birthday so last night we celebrated it at our house. So much easier than dragging all the kids out to a restaurant somewhere. My four little helpers helped me make dinner - scalloped potatoes and ham, green beans and rolls, and of course the cake. It is a yummy chocolate cake recipe I got from my friend Sabra a while back with a homemade chocolate glaze that hardens on top. I will have to post the recipe sometime :)

Papa we are so glad we got the chance to celebrate your birthday with you! Thanks for all you do. We love you!

Happy Grandparent's Day!

Today we had Grandparent's Day dessert at our house to celebrate the holiday. We missed you Grandma, Grandpa, Papa and Granmommy!! Spoiler alert - the kids made you a little craft so don't look at the pictures if you don't want to see it ahead of time since I didn't get them in the mail early enough (as usual)... We had lots of arts and crafts time this past school week!

Caleb, Ella, Lillian and Jackson love you all so much and feel so blessed to have SIX wonderful grandparents!

And Aunt Cissy we enjoyed celebrating with you even though you aren't our grandparent, but a grandparent nonetheless!

Wreaths and other goodies for the grandparents and some homemade (coffee filters and pipe cleaners) watercolor flowers for Aunt Cissy.

"Make your own ice cream sundae" bar!

For my little ones...

Scott and the older three kids are in Montgomery this weekend for his brother's ordination service. I decided to stay here with Jackson so that Scott's parents could ride in our van instead of taking their own vehicle. I thought it might be a nice weekend of rest and relaxation, but man I miss those little rascals (and their daddy, too!)...

They love to look at pictures of themselves on our blog, so hopefully they will see these while they are gone!

Dear Caleb, Ella and Lillian:

I sure wish I was there with you! I hope you know how much I am thinking about you and missing you! I know you are having lots of fun with your cousins so it is okay for you not to be thinking about me as often :) I love y'all so much and can't wait to see you again in a couple of days. Make sure and give Daddy (and each other) a big hug and kiss for me!

Love, Mommy
XOXO

A Family Legacy - Fixing and Building Things

Here is a picture of Caleb from Saturday:

Two guesses what his Papa and Daddy were working on ALL day that day :) Unfortunately (for us) Caleb had much better results with his repairs that Scott did - his car is still not running. But at least the three of them had fun hanging out and working together all day. We told Caleb to get used to it - the MacDonald men don't seem to have very good luck lately with their vehicles so thank goodness Papa is good at figuring out how to fix them.

Here is what Caleb and Papa worked on earlier that morning:
He also built a castle with Ella out of her princess blocks, but I didn't get a picture of that one in time.

Thank you, Papa for teaching our kids (and their Daddy) all you know about fixing, repairing, and remodeling things. We certainly can use your expertise around here!
