A Little Girl's Dream Come True

Last night we took Ella to the Disney Grand Floridian to dine with the princesses. This was my first experience at all with a Disney Resort and it was very impressive (and we didn't even stay overnight). Disney sure knows how to do it up right!

Ella wanted to wear her flower girl dress from the summer and Lillian chose to dress up in the girls' Snow White costume. I will say it was somewhat pricey (isn't everything at Disney?) but worth every penny. We did this in lieu of a birthday party for Ella (her choice) and it was definitely a lot more fun for me... especially since it included a meal out, which is just about my favorite thing to do. Plus it was a buffet so we could eat as much as we wanted (and did we ever). Ella got to bring two friends with her and she chose our neighbor Janiya and her little sister - how sweet is that?

We had a 5:00 reservation. They seated us very quickly after taking a picture of all of us together in the lobby. I made little party favors for the girls with princess pails and other princess-themed things from Target's Dollar Spot, including a mini-notebook in case the characters were signing autographs. If you let them know ahead of time that you are celebrating a birthday, they will bring you a free Mickey cupcake (not that we needed it with the INCREDIBLE dessert bar). We got to meet Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, Anastasia and Drizella. Each one of them visited every table in the restaurant to mingle, sign autographs and pose for pictures.

The food was quite tasty. There were samplings of foods from different countries, a salad and fruit bar, and a carving station with really good roast beef. Scott and I both thought it was prime rib when we saw it. There were even 2 kid buffets with Mickey-shaped plastic plates that were a lower height so the kids could reach them and serve themselves... pizza, corn, mac and cheese, broccoli, mashed potatoes, and pasta with marinara sauce were their choices.

It was such a neat experience and such fun to watch the girls taking it all in. I can only imagine what it will be like taking our kids to the theme park someday! We better start saving now...
