Yesterday was our anniversary - those seem to be going around these days :) I can't believe how fast the last five years have gone... I can't believe all the ways God has blessed us in five short years. Anyway, since I am sure some of you are just dying to know how we celebrated, here goes...
Scott told me we were going to dinner somewhere (YAY!!!), but he wouldn't tell me where - no hints at all! I had no idea what to wear, but I decided to dress up since it was a special occasion and all he ever sees me in are my stay-at-home-and-be-comfortable clothes, usually with spit-up, slobber, baby food and who knows what else all over them. He wore a shirt to match my dress (aren't we corny!) and we were on our way. I thought for sure we would be going to Tampa somewhere, but he fooled me and headed east on the interstate. When we got to the Orlando area, we took the Celebration exit. I hardly ever go there anymore, so I couldn't even remember what restaurants were there. We walked around for a bit and then went to the movie theater to see what was showing and there it was - a side exit door to the Columbia restaurant!!! I think my mouth started watering immediately! We went around the corner to go inside and get a table. I love the atmosphere there - the way it is decorated, the way it smells, the hot cuban bread and real butter they bring you right when you sit down! We ordered some appetizers and then our meals - I had roast pork with black beans and rice, plantains and yucca; Scott had some kind of beef dish. Everything was delicious, as always. Scott told me while we were eating that he had planned an early dinner because he was taking me to IKEA afterward! So I quickly changed my dessert plans from flan at the restaurant to a cinnamon roll at IKEA. Needless to say, we (or I) decided against the movie in lieu of our other plans.
Mima and Papa were kind enough to keep all three of our kids overnight! I was elated at the thought of getting a decent night's sleep and maybe even sleeping in! Unfortunately, Ella got sick while we were gone - all the kids have been battling some kind of stomach bug this week. We ended up coming home to change clothes and going over to check on Ella. So we didn't get to sleep in after all, but my husband was sweet enough to take me to breakfast this morning, just the two of us. I had forgotten what it was like not to have three little interruptions around all the time! Hopefully they missed us as much as we missed them.
P.S. The tree we are standing in front of in the picture was my anniversary gift - for those of you who don't know, wood is the traditional 5th anniversary gift so my thoughtful husband got that for us to plant in our front yard to commemorate the occasion.

Happy 5th Anniversary! Scott is so clever to have thought of a tree as a gift. Loved reading about your celebration. Hope Ella is better! Love to you Five!
