So we know now why the dishwasher isn't working - some kind of rodent was under there gnawing away as evidenced here:

Scott finally caught a mouse last night on a glue trap so hopefully the root of the problem is taken care of (I will spare you the picture he took of that - I haven't even had the nerve to look at it, although he did show it to the kids this morning after he told them he "let it go" after he trapped it). Now we just have to decide whether it is worth replacing all those pieces it chewed up or if we should just get a whole new dishwasher. I can't wait to host Christmas dinner here with no dishwasher. Fun, fun! I am glad that maybe I won't hear scratching around in my kitchen at night anymore... unless there was more than one!
