Summer Fun

Yesterday was our first playgroup swim party of the year.  A small turnout, but some of our favorite people were there!  I encouraged my sweet little darlings to clean their rooms before we left because I knew swimming would be just the motivation they needed to get it done, and I worked on some things at the same time.  I knew I would be worn out after spending the day swimming with five kids, most of whom can't swim on their own yet, and wouldn't have much energy to do anything later in the day.

I second-guessed my decision to even go to playgroup when, within ten minutes of us getting there, I had to dive in with my clothes on to rescue Lillian who decided to jump in without her floaties (which I had told her not to do), and a friend of mine had to dive in to rescue Jackson, who had floaties on but got terrified after sliding down the kiddie slide.  He was totally above the water so I am still not sure why he was so upset.  Luckily I brought my swimsuit, just in case.

We ate pizza and watermelon, and I took some super cute "hamburger" cookies that Caleb and Grandma made while he was in Daytona.  I even got to bring home a whole pizza which was perfect for dinner last night because I was out for the evening.  I'm so glad my kids don't mind eating the same thing twice in one day!  It won't be long until a whole Hot 'n Ready won't be enough to fill all of their hungry bellies!

Summer Fun with our Church Friends

This has been a crazy week - we have been going to a 5-Day Bible Club in the mornings and then taking Caleb and Ella to summer camp directly from there. Then Caleb and Ella are doing an evening VBS from 6 - 8 every night.

Today was another swim day/playgroup - Trinity's Children's Ministry hosts them all summer at various homes and even provides lunch! The oldest 2 decided to go swimming today instead of summer camp. I was surprised since this is the last week of camp for them!

Tomorrow is the last field trip of the summer to Lowry Park Zoo. I am trying to talk myself into going. I have never missed, even in the midst of pregnancies and babies - it is just so stinkin' HOT this year. And then there is Jackson (anyone who has been anywhere with him knows what I mean by that). I know once I get there I will be glad we did it... I just have to get to the point of really wanting to go! And start preparing now with packing snacks and drinks and towels and changes of clothes and sunscreen and who knows what else...

Guess I better get started!

Lake Miriam Publix Tour

Last Thursday was our annual playgroup tour of a local Publix store. It is pretty much the same tour year after year, but the kids always seem to enjoy it so we keep going back! They take you behind the scenes in all the different departments and then give you cookies and juice afterward. They also let your group take home the cake they decorated with the kids. We all met up at a park afterward for lunch and yummy pieces of cake (although I am not a huge cake eater, at least not with butter creme icing.

An Early Easter Celebration

Today we hosted an Easter party here for playgroup. It was fun having so many kids running around in our yard. I was nervous after our swing set got demolished a couple of weeks ago that the kids would be bored, but I don't think they even missed it!

My kids have been excited for days about all their friends coming here and they were such good helpers getting everything set up this morning. We even ended up with some leftover pizza so I don't have to cook dinner tonight - score!

Jackson fell asleep like this not long after the party ended!

Blueberries!!

It's that time of year again - we got to go blueberry picking on Thursday with our church friends! The bushes are loaded this year, I think we need to go back again soon and pick some more. We only got a pound and they are almost gone only 24 hours later.
